Space Planning

🎙 Hello everyone! Recently I started a thread of blogs called #OutOfExperience, and the first topic was facility management, as it relates to my first position as a #Power_Site_Engineer with Syriatel Mobile Telecom.

⚡ Being part of the Facility Management Unit (FMU) made me realize the significant role it plays in managing the physical space around us.

🏢 First and foremost, FMUs are experts in space planning. We used to analyze the requirements of various departments and optimize the allocation and utilization of their workspace. By ensuring efficient space usage, we weren’t only enhancing productivity, but also identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.

📐Workspace design matters too! FMUs collaborate with architects and designers during renovation or new construction projects to ensure that the suggested design meets the functional needs of the organization and incorporates ergonomic principles for employee well-being.

👷🏼‍♂️ Moreover, We used to liaise with vendors and contractors for various services, such as cleaning, maintenance, and repairs. We managed contracts, negotiated terms, and ensured that service levels are met.

💡 As a member of the FMU team, One of my key roles was monitoring and optimizing energy consumption within the facility. That included implementing energy-efficient systems and promoting sustainable practices.
